Dietary Difference® was founded by Lynn Dowd after many years of working as a food service director in healthcare settings. During her industry time, Lynn often worked with consulting dietitians and observed a few common challenges in the consulting field that led her to create a better solution. While many consultants are well-trained and capable, Lynn noticed certain patterns that she believed could be improved.
A Focus on Surveys
Many consulting dietitians primarily focused on meeting minimum compliance standards, without always considering the broader goals of the facility or its residents.
Providing Only Experienced LTP Consultants
Many had no Long-term care experience or very minimal with no consistency among staffing procedures. Some dietitians had limited hands-on experience, while others had become accustomed to long-standing practices and were less adaptable to new developments in the field.
Consistency and Training
In some cases, there was a lack of ongoing professional development and clear guidance for consultants, leading to inconsistencies in care.
